today i was studying for my psych exam and i read this.. thought it was pretty interesting =)

The Health Costs of Procrastination

When a professor gives you an assignment - a stressful life event in every student's life - do you try to take care of it as soon as possible or do you put it off to the very last minute? Psychologists have developed a measurement device called the General Procrastination Scale to differentiate those individuals who habitually put things off - procrastinators - from those who don't - nonprocrastinators. A pair of researchers administered this scale to students in a health psychology course who had a paper due later in the semester. The students were also asked to report, early and late in the semester, how many symptoms of physical illness they had experienced. Not surprisingly, procrastinators, on average, turned their papers in later than did nonprocrastinators; procrastinators also, on average, obtained lower grades on those papers. Early in the semster, procrastinators reported fewer symptoms of physical illness, but by late in the semester, they were reporting more symptoms than their nonprocrastinating peers.

damn.. lower marks and u get sick more often.. haha.. yes.. neway should stop procrastinating ey and start studying for that exam tomorrow =P

hmm time to update i guess with one week of uni passing

everyone seems to be talking about the awesomeness and fun of jst seeing everyone at ruse.. like uni is ruse with more freedom.. and that jst makes cumbo suck all the more (the campus that is.. the actual uni part of it isnt sooo bad) i guess i do still see some ruse '05ers though haha i mean i get to see gavin and eddy everyday for hours on end!! but u guys should come visit us too sometimes!! haha

but yeh one week's gone.. lectures and stuff have been pretty boring although prac's aren't too bad with lots of bones and an arm without its skin on it! and being around gavin means u end up playing a lot of bball too... i'm already sick of it after one week.. gotta find something else to do in breaks..

i guess the most interesting part of uni so far is who i bump into on the stations. Everyday there's someone new for me to catch up with or just say hi. Saw ppl such as Ting, amanda C, gaz who had slept in, looked absolutely stoned and was gonna miss half his lecture =P, Cheng, Edwin and some other friends Ming Yee, Dougie and Emma

but yes still looking forward to the next week.. making new friends and just the relaxed atmosphere is coool =)

Killer Ping-Pong

(an unusually popular family game)

Rules

1. Killer Ping-Pong is a two-player game that you can play with one (or for more advanced players, both) of your parents

2. All players should be in the same room. The smaller the room, the more intense the game. (Playing Travel Killer Ping-Pong on a long car journey is especially effective)

3. To start the game your parent must ask you a question that you do not wish to answer truthfully, eg 'Where were you last night?' 'Have you done your homework?' 'Where is your school report?' etc etc.

4. You must then reply, using one of three permitted 'response tracks'. Assuming the opening question was, 'Where were you last night?' the answer must either be:

a) far-fetched, eg 'I was mowing the moon with my mates.'
b) vague, eg 'Nowhere much. I was just "out".'
c) off the subject, eg 'You look great this morning, Mum.'

5. Your parent must now put up a follow up question to which you may make another response using one of the permitted 'response tracks' (see 4 above). On no account must you use more than six words in an answer and you must avoid telling the truth at all costs.

6. Steps 4 and 5 are repeated for as long as possible. Points are scored as follows:
- if you never answer the original question you get 10 points;
- if your parent gets to the truthful answer, they get 10 points

7. You score bonus points for making changes in your parent's appearance or manner as follows:
- parent's voice rises in pitch: 5 points
- parent's voice rises in volume: 5 points;
- parent's face goes red: 10 points
- parent's veins stand out on neck: 20 points

8. Your parents score bonus points as follows, by making you:
- blush: 5 points
- tell the truth: 5 points
- slam a door: 10 points
- threaten to leave home: 20 points

9. If at any point your parent stops asking questions, then you have won the game.

10. If, at any point you run out of answers (or run out of the room) your parent has won the game.

haha pretty cool game ey.. jst something i'm reading atm

it's from a book called Killer Ping-Pong, Surviving Life at Home... jst cause i was bored and cause it looked interesting

but yes i'm sure we're all experts at that game =P

Things never to do before a driving test

1. Play any racing car games

sooo the whole week before my driving test i was playing GT3 and GT4 on the ps2 with friends.. and well obviously there ain't no road rules in those games

soo when i went for a last driving lesson with my instructor a few days before the test.. i think the racing car games really hit. Instructions from the guy: Alright simon, turn left and first right

(now the right turn was like 10m down the road from the left)

now the games must have rubbed off soo much that i totally forgot i had to stick to the left of the double unbroken lines and then turn right. soo i decided to jst cut the straightest path i could to the right turn. and when the instructor slammed on the brakes.. i was like whaat?! what did i do?! and then i realised... ooooh crap.. i'm supposed to follow road rules in the real world.. this aint gt4 haha

2. Never go to someone's party the night before ur test

went to my friend's 18th on the night before the test.. and even though i left early i think i was filled with soo much energy that i couldnt get to sleep the whole night.. all in all i think i only slept like 2 or 3 hours and woke up really buggered for the test which was sooo not cool.. hmm

3. Eat normal food before ur test

now iono what i ate.. but i rckn i ate something real bad..

cause i had the runs in the morning of the test haha and that sooo did not help.. its a good thing that during the test i was ok.. otherwise ock oh..

haha neways despite all these problems i still managed to pass the Ps with flying colours.. no sweat! yaya haha!

neone up for a ride? GT4 style! =P
